Answers to commonly asked questions about PTA

When and where will the Area Meetings be held? There will be 4 Area Meetings per year in September (this one was the election meeting this year), November, February and May. The exact dates and locations will be determined by the 3 Area officers who were recently elected in cooperation with the Area Superintendent. Contact your Area Representative for more information.

How many years may I serve as a local unit president? Texas PTA insists that a local unit president only serve 2 consecutive years as president. It is strongly urged to find, encourage and develop new leadership at the local levels so that the same people are not holding leadership positions year after year.

May I serve as a local unit PTA officer if I am a district employee? DISD policy states that district employees may not handle money for any booster club or other parent involvement group. While this keeps employees from serving as local unit presidents or treasurers, it does not keep them from serving in other PTA positions.

How do I get ideas for programs for my PTA? Contact Beth Zarate at 1-800-TALK-PTA, ext. 218 or at bzarate@txpta.org for information on programs for your local unit. These programs are for elementary through high school and are free of charge.
